Susan Chandler, Dunoon, Scotland I am a member of the Dunoon knitting group and only rediscovered my enjoyment of knitting a year ago – I used to do a lot years ago. Anyway I had real fun doing the piece I did, I tried out lots of different stitches and patterns and it helped me brush up on the rusty skills! It’s a lovely idea. I wish you all the best with your venture.
Knitted scarf, 200 x 30 cm Susan Goutcher, Glasgow, Scotland I knitted this bedspread in memory of my gran who was a native Gaelic speaker from Skye. I remember visiting the island as a child and being fascinated by the crofts and enjoying the great scenery. I enjoy knitting and hope that someone will like the multi-coloured panel design after it has decorated the Skye Bridge.
Knitted panel, 200 x 133 cm Susan Livingstone, Castle Douglas, Scotland
Have used wool given to me by an Australian friend, who had been knitting it into a jumper and lost interest. Seemed like an appropriate wool to use for a Homecoming project. Best wishes. Knitted scarf, 200 x 36 cm
Susan Murphy, Massachusetts, USA It's a very old island pattern from my island – Martha’s Vineyard. Almost everyone here, sooner or later, gets a sweater like this (I've enclosed a pattern for you to see). This is wool from a local sheep farm in Chilmark. It's as close as I could come to getting to Skye myself this year. I was in the Highlands and on Skye in December 1972. I never forgot it. I was terribly homesick over Christmas and I felt right at home in Scotland. I’d love to go back some day. Susan née Ross, Perth, Scotland 3 knitted scarves Knitted with Elvincraft yarn, hand dyed on the Isle of Skye Knitted scarf, 200 x 22 cm

This scarf is lovingly made from Marriner Yarn, 75% acrylic, 25% wool. To wash: 6/40 degrees symbol. Do not iron (why bother?!) I first learned to crochet last year from Debbie Stoller’s Happy Hookers book while my husband and I were sailing all the way around the UK and Ireland. We sailed under the Skye Bridge (and cycled over it!) so when I saw the opportunity to clothe it, I jumped at the chance! My crocheting skills are still very basic – this year’s new stitch is this shell stitch – but I hope whoever buys this scarf will like it and use it often. I enjoyed making it.
