How to Participate

Please note that this project is now over.  What's written below was the original invitation for Stitches on the Bridge 2009.

You are invited to knit or crochet items of particular dimensions: large panels, scarves/wraps, or smaller rectangles.

These will be joined together, mounted on a base fabric and draped on the ramparts of the bridge, creating a colourful and thought provoking display of knitted links with the world.

All the items will eventually be sold to raise money for local charities. None of the items can be returned. This is your gift to the area!

We hope to put together a book as well, again to raise money for local charities.

DIAGRAM OF KNITTED PANELS

We are inviting you to knit and/or crochet:

Full panels - 200 cm wide x 133 cm high.
These can later be sold as single bedspreads.

Scarves / wraps all 200 cm long and of any one of four widths (matching with the measurements of the horizontal panels within the larger panel).

200 x 41 cm / 78 x 16 inches
200 x 36 cm / 78 x 14 inches
200 x 30 cm / 78 x 11 inches
200 x 26 cm / 78 x 10 inches

You can also knit smaller lengths or widths and sew them together,
as long as your finished piece is the same dimensions
as one of the above.
These can later be sold as scarves and/or wraps.

Rectangles that will fit into the four horizontal panels. They must be the same size as one of the following:

41 cm high x 50 cm wide / 16 inches high x 19 inches wide
36 cm high x 40 cm wide / 14 inches high x 15 inches wide
30 cm high x 25 cm wide / 11 inches high x 9 inches wide
26 cm high x 20 cm wide / 10 inches high x 7 inches wide
(You can download a pdf of patterns for the smallest size here)

We will sew the individual rectangles together to create scarf / wrap lengths to fit the horizontal panels.

You can knit as many different pieces as you like, there’s no limit,  but it is important that you knit to these dimensions.

Once your piece is finished, please email us a jpg of it for our records
or post it to one of our online community groups
(see home page for details) and for the proposed book.
A photo of the maker/s would be great too.

Does your piece have a story attached to it?
Please share it with us!

Then parcel it up and send your piece to:
Lùban air an Drochaid, PO Box 6358, KYLE, IV40 9AA
to arrive between 30th March and 25th September 2009 at the very latest.

Please include the following information:
Dimensions of your knitting
Name of maker
Full address
Email address

Country
Your story (if not already sent by email).

Please remember, nothing will be returned.

All items will be sold to raise funds
for local charities and community groups.
