Welcome / FàilteThis was sent out on 14th January 2013:Dear Stitches participants and supporters We think the end is finally in sight. Once again, our sincere apologies for the desperately long delay in getting to grips with sorting out the pieces from Stitches on the Bridge. Due to Alison now being housebound with ME and Fiona moving further south for personal reasons, not to mention acute embarrassment, we have decided not to try to auction the pieces but to offer them to the original knitters of each piece, as long as it has not been sewn into something else. For example, a few pieces have been sewn into blankets. There will be no charge (and therefore no fundraising) for the pieces, except for the cost of postage. If you would like to additionally make a small donation to cover our outstanding costs from 2009, that would be gratefully received. So - if you would like your piece returned to you, please reply to this email. In time, Alison will be in touch to ask you directly but if you can contact us in the meantime, that would be helpful. Please bear with us as it will take a long time to sort out. Alison is too unwell to do much and can also get to the post office at most only once a week. If you are particularly interested in a piece that you didn't knit yourself, please ask and we will contact the original knitter and try to sort this out for you. In this case, some exchange of funds, perhaps for charity, might need to take place. But there's no harm in trying. Once we've been able to rehome the majority of the pieces, we'll think again about what to do with the remainder - it will probably be donated to a charity for blankets, etc. Again, please accept our apologies for the failure on our part to raise money for charities from all your hard work, but we now need to just wind this up. So - do let us know if you want your knitting back!
Alison and Fiona
We must apologise for the long silence from us. The original organisers, Alison and Fiona, have been a bit out of commission for a while. Alison has had a major relapse of ME/CFS and Fiona is very busy with family and work, so it's been difficult for us to keep up with all the work that needs done to sew the pieces ready for auction. We're doing our best and, if you're on our mailing list, we'll let you know the news asap. Thanks for your patience. Watch this space! September 2010 Following several days over the past year where people came to help us sew up some of the pieces, we are still very far behind with our project. The same reasons are holding us back, I'm afraid, but we do hope to have it all wrapped up by the end of the year at the very latest. Many many apologies for the extended delay. July 2011 Stitches would like to offer participants the opportunity to buy any goods from our Cafe Press shops - UK or US - with a photo of your own piece on the bridge featured on it - email here for more details. We also have shops on Spreadshirt and Shirtcity for those in Europe and the UK, as the postage will be cheaper than with Cafe Press, which is based in the US (not to mention possible custom charges, which one of our number has fallen prey to!). Both of these shops, however, have a smaller range of products and are generally more expensive than Cafe Press.
